Composer and conductor, Cormac Dorrian, studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Goldsmiths’ College and since that time has worked additionally as a musical director, producer and music teacher.
He has written the scores to a number of short films, commercials and documentaries, as well as music for BBC TV & Radio, ITV and Channel Four.
He has worked as a music associate for renowned composers including Barrington Pheloung (of Inspector Morse TV theme fame), Richard Rodney Bennett and Maurice Jarre, and has been a music consultant for music supervisors, Musicalities, inc.
In 2009, Cormac worked with The Music & Media Partnership on their projects for the 2010 World Cup and 2012 Olympic Games. In Christmas 2017, Cormac conducted the DSO in the UK premieres of two of his works for Oboe and Orchestra with his wife, Jane (first oboe with the orchestra), as soloist.
As a musical director, Cormac has worked with companies such as Brighton Theatre Group, City Theatre Company and Dartford Amateur, Operatic and Dramatic Society on such shows as West Side Story, Oliver!, Les Miserables, Guys & Dolls, Tommy-The Musical and Witches of Eastwick. Next year, he will be musical director for DAODS on their upcoming production of Footloose, The Musical.
Cormac is currently Head of Music at Dartford Science & Technology College.
